Tribal Office Limiting Public Access

The Qagan Tayagungin Tribe is limiting public access to the Tribal Office effective Monday March 16, 2020.  On Thursday, March 12, 2020, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced the first case of COVID-19 in the state. In a statement published Thursday March 12, Alaska Governor Dunleavy said the patient is a foreign national who developed a fever and respiratory symptoms shortly after arriving in Anchorage, Alaska. While there are no other reported cases, ensuring the health and safety of our team and community is our number one priority.

The Tribal office may be closed to the public, but the Qagan Tayagungin Tribe remains open for business.  Staff will continue working normal business hours.
Food Distribution Clients are being contacted and asked to either complete their issuance shopping lists via an internet form, or to schedule a time to come to the office.  This is being done in the spirit of social distancing to prevent multiple clients from being present at the same time.

Tribal Citizens will still be able to reach the tribe via email and phone.

The Qagan Tayagungin Tribe will continue with preparations for the 2020 Culture Camp, in consultation with the Center for Disease Control’s guidance for organizers and staff responsible for mass or large gatherings.  This preparation is done with the knowledge the Tribe will be required to continue assessing the risks of holding the event as it draws nearer, and as the CDC recommendations are updated.

In a message to staff last week, the Tribe also has suspended work related travel for the foreseeable future, as well as modified its leave policy during this pandemic to encourage employs to implement measures to help prevent the spread of this virus.

The Tribe will continue to monitor information regarding COVID-19.  As you’re probably aware from the cancelling of school, after school activities, and recreational activities, we all have a role in being prepared, staying healthy, and reducing the spread of COVID-19.  Below are resources to help you protect yourself, and others, during this critical time:
